Yankees fan Austin Capobianco became the butt of many jokes on Tuesday night after he was ejected for trying to rip a ball out of Mookie Betts’ hand during World Series Game 4.
Capobianco and his friend, John Peter, were both kicked out of Yankee Stadium after interfering with Betts – and were banned for Game 5 as well – but that wasn’t their only punishment as they were ruthlessly mocked online.
One fan on X posted a screengrab of Capobianco trying to pry the ball away from Betts with the caption, ‘the face when you’re about to never set foot in an mlb ballpark ever again.’
Another fan hilariously compared the moment to, ‘trying to get the tennis ball out of my dog’s mouth.’
A different X user had another interpretation of the incident, as they wrote, ‘Trying to quietly open a bag chips in a movie theater.’

Others chose to mock Capobianco’s appearance, with one saying, ‘How is it 2024 and Yankees fans still look like extras on [1950’s sitcoms] The Honeymooners.’
And at least one fan even invoked the legendary Tony Soprano, captioning a photo of the fictional mobster calling Capobianco a ‘brave Italian American Yankee Fan.’
The fan spoke to ESPN’s Jesse Rogers after the game at a local bar, with the journalist describing him as a ‘beaut.’
Fans did not take kindly to that description.

‘Yeah, celebrating this idiot seems like a great idea. Good job @espn,’ one wrote.
Another said, ‘I’m living in bizarro world because in no sane world would anyone be glorifying this dude.’
Ultimately, Capobianco’s antics did not impact the game much as the Yankees went on to comfortably win 11-4.
They’ll aim to keep the series alive in Game 5 – though he won’t be in attendance.
