Legendary WWE announcer Jim Ross has revealed he’s preparing to undergo brain surgery after recently spending almost 40 days in hospital.

The 74-year-old, better known to wrestling fans as JR, delivered the worrying health update after returning to his ‘Grilling JR’ podcast Friday, explaining how he needs to get a shunt to drain fluid from his brain.

‘I’m getting ready to have another surgery, brain surgery this time, and that’s going to be an adventure, because I don’t think they’re going to find much, oh God, my brain,’ Ross joked.

‘I gotta get it addressed, I couldn’t live my life the way it was, you know. I forget s*** and just couldn’t remember things. It’s just horrible. I felt horrible.

‘But that all started with me passing out in my house and being discovered there, and we began an almost 40-day hospital stay.’

Ross is yet to have a date for the surgery confirmed, but expects it to happen in the next week or so.

The WWE icon, who is now working for rival promotion AEW, encountered health issues leading up to the company’s Double or Nothing show at New York’s Louis Armstrong Stadium in May.

He has suffered from Bell’s Palsy – a condition that causes temporary weakness or paralysis on one side of the face – since 1994.

Two years ago, Ross had another medical scare when he was hospitalized due to ‘shortness of breath.’

His appearances on AEW have become more sporadic in recent years due to his health problems, although he did still provide commentary on the Double or Nothing show in May.

‘It’s fairly serious,’ Ross said about his upcoming brain surgery. ‘I always feel like anytime they open your skull up that’s a serious piece of business and this certainly feels that way.

‘I’ll get it done, a short hospital stay and went back home and heal up. That’s my options, so I’m gonna do it. I’m gonna heal up.’
