Toronto Blue Jays fans were left seething on Friday night after a spectator invaded the field waving an American flag during Game 6 of the World Series.

In the bottom of the sixth inning of their pivotal clash with the LA Dodgers, Yoshinobu Yamamoto was about the pitch for the visitors when the flag-wielding invader suddenly appeared out of nowhere.

His unwelcome cameo did not last long, nevertheless, with two members of security combining to bring him crashing to the ground at Rogers Centre after Old Glory was first ripped out of his hand.

As he was escorted off the field, the home crowd made their displeasure known by loudly booing him after the patriotic gesture for America.

At the time of the incident the Dodgers were leading 3-1 in Game 6 of the World Series, a result which will see them force an all-important Game 7.

MLB’s end-of-season showpiece has not been settled by a Game 7 since 2019, when the Washington Nationals prevailed over the Houston Astros.

The six-inning mark eventually proved Yamamoto’s last of the evening, with the pitching sensation giving up just one run, five hits and a walk while striking out six Blue Jays batters.
