The World Athletics Championships 2025 is set to conclude a gripping season in track and field in Tokyo, Japan.

Great Britain and Northern Ireland will hope to land medals behind Olympic champion Keely Hodgkinson in the women’s 800m, while other medalists in Paris last year include Georgia Hunter Bell, Josh Kerr, Katarina Johnson-Thompson and Matthew Hudson-Smith.

World superstars Mondo Duplantis and Sydney McLaughlin-Levrone feature, while the men’s 100m delivered plenty of drama as Oblique Seville of Jamaica took gold ahead of compatriot Kishane Thompson and Noah Lyles.

Kerr, another track star venturing into YouTube ahead of a major championship, is the men’s 1500m world champion from the last version of the event at Budapest 2023, though Olympic champion Cole Hocker and Dutch phenom Niels Laros pose a threat to the Briton in one of the most anticipated events of the championships. Expected rival Jakob Ingebrigtsen crashed out in the heats after an injury-marred build-up.

As well as Kerr, Team GB landed medals in Budapest through Hodgkinson, Johnson-Thompson, Ben Pattison, Zharnel Hughes, Hudson-Smith and a hat-trick of successes in the relays. Here’s the full rundown of the Tokyo schedule and results across nine absorbing days of sport
