Leaders Wigan Warriors proved too strong for York Valkyrie as they ran out 32-12 winners in the Women’s Super League at the LNER Community Stadium.

Two tries by Eva Hunter, plus scores for Ellise Derbyshire and Lucie Sams saw Wigan race into a 20-0 half-time lead.

Rhiannon Marshall and Izzy Bibby gave York a foothold in the second half, but two more tries from Grace Banks secured the win for Warriors.

Isabel Rowe was effective with the boot, converting four times.

Leigh Leopards edged out bottom side Barrow Raiders 20-18 after coming from behind.

Zara Clough and Sam Norman put Barrow ahead but Kate Howard, Toryn Blackwood and Isabelle Malyon hit back for Leigh.

Vanessa Temple scored either side of the break for Barrow but Blackwood crossed again on 49 minutes, completing the scoring and securing Leigh’s win.

Huddersfield Giants thrashed Featherstone Rovers 38-4 with a dominant display at Laund Hill.

Madison Clegg and Tegan Sant each scored twice, added to by Amelia Brown, to put the Giants 22-0 up in just over 20 minutes.

Dani Waters got Rovers’ score eight minutes later but Clegg completed her hat-trick two minutes before the break.

Brown also grabbed her hat-trick to round off the rout in the second half.
