Indiana Fever guard Sophie Cunningham insists she was completely unfazed by Donald Trump’s administration referencing the viral meme of her pointing at an opponent this week.

Cunningham broke the internet last month when she was seen pointing dramatically at Phoenix Mercury forward DeWanna Bonner as tempers flared during their game in Indianapolis, with fans left highly amused by her antics on the court.

The meme has gained so much traction, in fact, that the White House even jumped on the bandwagon earlier this week.

The official White House X account shared a video which shows Cunningham explaining her technical foul for pointing at Bonner and reenacting her gesture, before it cuts to Trump pointing into a camera and giving a thumbs-up.

When asked for her thoughts on the president’s administration getting involved, the WNBA star said she ‘didn’t really think twice’ about it.

‘I think everyone around the world is posting it,’ Cunningham told reporters about her viral clip on Friday. ‘Every company has done it. They’re just the one to also get on board, and so I didn’t really think twice about it. I think they’re just another group who is posting about it.’

Cunningham was one of five players to receive a technical foul during the fourth quarter of Indiana’s 86-77 win over Phoenix on June 22, along with Bonner.

Their altercation began after Fever superstar Caitlin Clark, who also got a technical, fouled Bonner, before they exchanged some words while being separated.

The Mercury player then clashed with Cunningham, who revealed that her opponent had taken offense to her pointing before she produced the meme.

As well as Trump, several athletes, sports teams and celebrities have posted it on social media with their own hilarious caption.

‘(It’s) so goofy,’ Cunningham admitted. ‘It’s getting worldwide views now, so it’s just been kind of fun to see.

‘I didn’t even mean for it to blow up like that.’
