WNBA star Arike Ogunbowale was arrested in Miami and charged with battery after allegedly punching a security guard at a nightclub.

According to a police report, the incident happened at around 4:20am in the early hours of Thursday morning at the trendy nightclub E11EVEN.

The alleged victim claims he was trying to escort Ogunbowale away from the club due to an unrelated altercation when she punched him in the face and knocked him to the ground.

Ogunbowale was celebrating her Unrivaled team, Mist BC, winning the 3×3 tournament against Phantom – she scored 19 points in the 80-74 victory on Wednesday in Miami.

But a matter of hours later, she was having her mugshot taken before being released on $1,000 bond.

Fox Sports radio host Andy Slater was first to report the incident and said it was also caught on camera.

Ogunbowale plays in the WNBA for the Dallas Wings and is one of the highest-paid players in the league on a salary of around $240,000.

She is a four-time WNBA All-Star who has played in the leage since 2020.

‘The Wings are aware of an incident involving Arike Ogunbowale and are in the process of gathering more information,’ the team said in a statement. ‘Further comments will be provided once we have more details.’

The US men’s hockey team headed to the same club on their return from the Winter Olympics in Italy, where they beat Canada to win gold.

E11EVEN refused to comment on the specific incident involving Ogunbowale but told TMZ: ‘We were thrilled to have served as the venue for the official championship after party for the Unrivaled champions and are honored that athletes and teams across multiple sports consistently choose E11EVEN to celebrate their victories.

‘We remain committed to providing a world-class environment that reflects the energy, excitement, and prestige of those moments.’
