Wigan have signed forward Joe Hungbo on a three-and-a-half year deal from German side FC Nurnberg.
The 24-year-old had been on loan at fellow League One side Rotherham since the summer, failing to score in 18 appearances.
But he has cut that move short to make the permanent switch to Shaun Maloney’s side for an undisclosed fee, prior to the match with Birmingham on Saturday.
Maloney said: “Joe can play on either side of our front line which is a big asset for us. He excels in one-on-one situations and will bring speed and creativity to our attacking play.
“He has gained good experience in England, Scotland, and Germany during his career so far. I’m looking forward to Joseph integrating into our team and showing his work ethic and talent.”
Hungbo played for Watford, Aldershot, Ross County and Huddersfield before moving to Germany in the summer of 2023.
Meanwhile, Liverpool loan signing Calvin Ramsay has returned to his parent club after spending the first half of the season on loan with the Latics.
Ramsay, 21, made 12 appearances during his time with Wigan, having originally signed a season-long loan with the club.
Earlier this week Wigan signed ex-Arsenal U21 defender Josh Robinson on a three-and-a-half year deal.
