Giants quarterback Jaxson Dart has picked the brains of both Patrick Mahomes and Travis Kelce about working with Matt Nagy after the former Kansas City Chiefs offensive coordinator’s move to New York.
Nagy, who enjoyed two separate stints as offensive coordinator in Kansas City, was hired by the Giants earlier this month to help strengthen new head coach John Harbaugh’s staff.
Harbaugh has also brought in another three former offensive coordinators, with Brian Callahan joining as quarterbacks coach and pass-game coordinator, Greg Roman arriving as senior offensive assistant and Tim Kelly taking the tight ends coach job.
Yet on the back of his impressive rookie year, which saw him register 24 touchdowns and seven turnovers, Dart is most intrigued about the prospect of playing under Nagy as he looks to take his game to another level in 2026.
According to ESPN, the 22-year-old has talked on multiple occasions with Mahomes about his experience working with the OS, while he also told reporters last week that he received rave reviews from Kelce.
‘I can’t wait to get the chance to play for him,’ Dart told Forbes about Nagy on Super Bowl week. ‘Just so many great things that are said about him and his coaching style and the work that he puts in, the passion that he has for the game.’

Nagy has also previously worked as a head coach after taking the Chicago Bears job in 2018 and helping the team return to the playoffs for the first time in nearly a decade.
He’d ultimately win AP Coach of the Year honors for 2018 and lead the Bears back to the playoffs again in 2020, but after failing to win a postseason game in Chicago he was let go after the 2021 season.
The former quarterback then returned to Kansas City in 2022, initially as senior assistant and quarterbacks coach before becoming offensive coordinator again a year later, however the Chiefs offense has become significantly less explosive in that time.
The franchise tied for second in the NFL averaging 8.1 yards per pass attempt before Nagy returned, only to rank in the bottom half of the league each of the past three years under Nagy with an average of 6.8 yards per pass attempt.
Despite this concerning dip in form, Chiefs head coach Andy Reid is a huge admirer of Nagy and believes he should take the top job somewhere in the near future.
‘He deserves to have a head coaching job,’ Reid said recently. ‘If not, it gives him an opportunity to go out and do his thing. I mean, somebody is missing a gem here. That’s how I feel.

Along with Roman, who worked with Harbaugh from 2017-22 in Baltimore and helped nurture Ravens quarterback Lamar Jackson, Nagy will handle the development of one of the most promising young signal callers in the NFL in Dart.
Harbaugh admitted the latter made the Giants a more desirable landing spot before he took the job, saying: ‘The quarterback is kind of important. That’s kind of a big deal.
‘I’m excited about Jaxson Dart. I like the way he plays. I like his talent, skill set, all the things he’s accomplished, but more than that, I like who he is and what he’s about. To me, he’s about football.’
