West Ham midfielder Lucas Paqueta has sent a message to Aston Villa with his celebration after scoring against Nottingham Forest.

Unai Emery’s Villa made an approach to sign Paqueta on loan with an obligation to buy ahead of Monday evening’s transfer deadline.

However, the 28-year-old has indicated that he is committed to West Ham.

It has been a concerning start to the season for the Hammers but they secured a much-needed victory against Forest as they won 3-0.

Jarrod Bowen put West Ham ahead in the 84th minute, with Paqueta then scoring a penalty four minutes later before Callum Wilson netted in stoppage time.

As he celebrated in front of the visiting supporters, Paqueta mimicked picking up a phone before throwing it away and then kissed the West Ham badge.

Paqueta’s celebration certainly seems to suggest that he is committed to West Ham despite the speculation surrounding him.

If West Ham were to lose Paqueta at this stage of the transfer window then it would be a significant blow.

Paqueta has been at West Ham since 2022 and has made 124 appearances for the club, while he has scored 21 goals and provided 14 assists.

West Ham started the season with defeats to Sunderland and Chelsea in the league before also losing against Wolves in the Carabao Cup.
