West Ham are finalising an £18million deal for Leicester City goalkeeper Mads Hermansen.

The Hammers switched sights to the 25-year old Denmark U21 international after failing to agree on a deal for Botafogo’s John Victor.

The deal is understood to include a further £5m in add ons for Hermansen who was one of Leicester’s best performers last season despite their relegation.

West Ham had also enquired about Werder Bremen’s Michael Zetterer and Zion Suzuki of Parma but Hermansen was their preferred choice.

He is now expected to undergo a medical ahead of signing his contract.

West Ham have been on the lookout for a new goalkeeper following the departure of Lukasz Fabianski and amid concerns regarding whether Alphonse Areola is capable of being first choice.

So far in this transfer window West Ham have signed Callum Wilson, Kyle Walker-Peters and El Hadji Malick Diouf, while Jean-Clair Todibo has joined on a permanent basis.

Some prominent names have departed the club including Mohammed Kudus, Aaron Cresswell, Vladimir Coufal, Danny Ings, Kurt Zouma and Michail Antonio.

Hermansen joined Leicester from Brondby in 2023 and has made 72 appearances for the Foxes.
