The British Forces Resettlement Services (BFRS) was established in 2009 and works as a bridge between the Armed Forces Community (AFC) and employers and training providers to ensure the AFC and their families receive the right support, guidance, and opportunities in their transition from military service.

Over 30 people joined the webinar and heard from serving Authorised Firearms Officers (AFOs) about transferable skills, their relocation journey, and how they’ve integrated into the local community. The webinar covered the role of the CT-AFO, the Civil Nuclear Constabulary’s (CNC’s) mission, the Code of Ethics, and offered insights into the recruitment process and specialisms that the CNC offer.

James Graham, General Manager at BFRS, said “Service leavers and veterans possess experience, skills and discipline that closely aligns with the operational requirements of the Civil Nuclear Constabulary. Leadership, integrity, disciplined decision making, situational awareness, resilience, and the ability to operate effectively in high pressure and security sensitive environments are core strengths developed through military service.

“Through collaboration with the Civil Nuclear Constabulary, BFRS is committed to strengthening pathways from military service into armed policing and wider specialist roles that safeguard the UK’s civil nuclear sites.

“For transitioning personnel, this offers not just employment, but the opportunity to continue serving in a highly professional, disciplined, and nationally critical policing role.”

The CNC currently holds a Silver Award in the Armed Forces Covenant Employer Recognition Scheme (ERS) and are currently working hard to achieve our gold.

The ERS recognises the commitment and support that UK employers offer to defence personnel. The Silver Award is given to organisations who have pledged to support the armed forces by signing the Armed Forces Covenant, have proactively demonstrated that service personnel/armed forces community are not unfairly disadvantaged as part of their recruiting and selection processes, and actively ensured that their workforce is aware of their positive policies towards defence people issues.

The CNC is proud to support those who serve or have served in the armed forces and their families.

More information about life in the CNC following service can be found on the CNC Jobs website.
