Terry McLaurin’s contract saga is over as the Commanders receiver has reportedly agreed to an eye-watering new deal with the franchise.
McLaurin, 29, requested a trade earlier this offseason and skipped the first four days of training camp as he sought an improved deal going into the final year of his current contract.
Now, McLaurin has gotten the raise he was looking for as he and the Commanders have agreed to a three-year extension worth over $96million, as reported by Jordan Schultz.
The second-team All-Pro’s new deal will place him in the upper echelon of earners at his position, with his annual average salary of $32million only behind Ja’Marr Chase, Justin Jefferson, CeeDee Lamb, D.K. Metcalf and Garrett Wilson.
The Eagles’ A.J. Brown also rakes in an average of $32million per year, level with McLaurin’s extension.
The Washington star, who is entering his seventh season with the Commanders, had been entering the final season of his three-year, $68.2 million contact.

McLaurin and Jayden Daniels struck up a strong connection during the passer’s rookie year
McLaurin was fined $200,000 by the team for skipping mandatory minicamp and the first four days of training camp.
He later returned to the team facility in Ashburn, Virginia, though he hasn’t been practicing due to an ankle injury that landed him on the PUP list.
The Commanders then activated the previously disgruntled star off of the PUP list earlier this month.
The Athletic’s Nicki Jhabvala reported on Monday that McLaurin was expected to be on the practice field on Wednesday.
McLaurin’s new deal means that star quarterback Jayden Daniels will get his favorite target back on the field after the pair struck up a strong rapport during the passer’s rookie season.
McLaurin tallied 82 catches for 1,096 yards and a career-high 13 touchdowns as the Commanders went on to go 12-5 in the regular season and make the NFC Championship Game.
Since being drafted out of Ohio State in 2019, McLaurin has been one of the more consistent receivers in the league – with five consecutive seasons of 1,000-plus receiving yards.
However, he will be 31 years old around the time his next contract kicks in.
