Vitor Pereira’s future as Nottingham Forest boss is in doubt despite helping preserve the club’s Premier League status less than two months ago.
The Portuguese coach has a year to run on the 18-month deal he signed after replacing Sean Dyche in February and talks about a new contract were anticipated this summer.
Yet these discussions have not progressed, amid suggestions of interest from Saudi Pro League club Al-Hilal.
Vitor Pereira could depart Nottingham Forest in a shock development
Oliver Glasner is among the candidates being considered to replace Pereira
Were Pereira to depart, former Crystal Palace boss Oliver Glasner is likely to be among those considered to replace him. Glasner was a strong candidate to move to the City Ground in December 2023 when Steve Cooper departed, but on that occasion the club chose to hire Nuno Espirito Santo. The Austrian is currently without a club having left Crystal Palace at the end of last season.
If ever Glasner were to move to Forest, it is unlikely to be well-received by Palace fans. There is little love lost between the clubs after Forest replaced Palace in last season’s Europa League. UEFA ruled that because American businessman John Textor had influence over both Palace and Lyon, they could not compete in the same European competition. Palace were demoted to the Conference League, to Forest’s benefit.
It is worth remembering that Pereira signed a new three-year contract at Wolves in September 2025, only to be sacked in November after an appalling start to the season that sent the club hurtling towards relegation.
As well as Al-Hilal, Pereira is understood to be attracting interest from other clubs, who admired his work at the City Ground.
More to follow.
