  • Star retired from Test cricket in the final match of the 2025/26 Summer

Recently retired Aussie cricket star Usman Khawaja has announced he’ll become a father to a third child.

The 39-year-old and his wife, Rachel, have published a joint post on Instagram, alongside multiple photos of their family.

It’s captioned: ‘Our forever team (soon to be one more), no matter where life takes us.’

Khawaja is already a father of two children: five-year-old Aisha and four-year-old Ayla.

The couple’s joint post has since received numerous messages of congratulations from fans across the world.

‘What a beautiful family you’ve built together, Mashallah,’ one Instagram user wrote.

‘Congratulations, Khawajas! What a joy and blessing!’ another social media user added.

The former Aussie opener announced his retirement from Test cricket against England in the final match of the recent Ashes series.

Khawaja averaged more than 43 in the format and scored 17 centuries.

Along with his impressive on-field results, he’ll also be remembered for his strong political beliefs off the field.

Allegations of racism within the Aussie cricket fraternity have been the catalyst for him speaking out and attempting to become a leading figure in the cricketing world.

Khawaja is the first Muslim and Pakistani born player to represent Australia in a Test match.

He broke new ground by playing for Australia and has been able to provide children with what he was never given as a youngster – a role model who doesn’t fit the status quo.

His outspoken nature has been a cornerstone of who he is as a person, and how the Aussie public has come to know him across his entire career.

In his retirement press conference, he criticized former players and journalists for their treatment of him over the last 15 years.

‘I’ve always felt a little bit different, even to now,’ he said.

‘I am. I’m a coloured cricketer… I’ve also felt very different in many respects. Different in how I’ve been treated, different in how things have happened.’

Khawaja sits 15th on the all-time Aussie Test run-scorers list.
