USA Ryder Cup fans called for Donald Trump to play in the tournament on Friday as the president was spotted wearing his golf shoes for the event.
The Commander-in-Chief jetted from DC to Republic Airport in Farmingdale, New York alongside his granddaughter and fellow golfer Kai. He arrived at Bethpage Black around midday and was given a raucous reception from fans there.
And as Team Europe raced out to a quick 3-1 lead, fans online suggested that Trump should suit up himself.
‘Looking at the scoreboard, he should’ve brought his clubs too,’ one said.
‘Thank goodness. Time to sub-in the 5-time Club Champ POTUS and get the Americans back on track! Captain Keeg make the call,’ another added.
‘President is a better putter than half the US squad,’ a third claimed.

A fourth said: ‘Let’s go President Trump. Go turn this damn team around.
And a fifth quipped: ‘Make America Putt Again.’
Trump, an avid golfer, was seen wearing white golf shoes as he walked alongside Kai to board Marine One in Washington.
However, he’ll arrive in New York to already find Team USA in a hole against their European rivals.
Three of the foursome matchups have already gone Europe’s way, with Jon Rahm and Tyrrell Hatton defeating Trump-favorite Bryson DeChambeau and Justin Thomas.
Ludvid Aberg and Matt Fitzpatrick also defeated Scottie Scheffler and Russell Henley, while Colin Morikawa and Harris English were also no match for Rory McIlroy and Tommy Fleetwood.
Xander Schauffele and Patrick Cantlay later punched back as they defeated Robert MacIntyre and Viktor Hovland to earn the Americans their first point.
Trump’s arrival at the golf event – which comes on the heels of him attending the US Open men’s final – has brought heightened security measures to Bethpage Black.

A number of items typically found at golf tournaments have been banned, as range finders have been removed from the club shops on Friday.
Folding chairs, insulated beverage containers and large umbrellas have also been banned while Trump is there.
DeChambeau, an outspoken MAGA supporter, spoke ahead of the tournament what Trump’s attendance in New York would mean for Team USA.
‘I think he’ll be a great force for us to get a lot of people on our side,’ he said.
‘I think it will be interested and exciting to see how the crowd and everybody reacts, It’s going to be an electric environment.’
Captain Keegan Bradley also has belief that the president could rally his team to a comeback.
‘We’ve just had the President fly over on Air Force One, I have a feeling things are about to turn here,’ Bradley said on USA Network’s broadcast on Friday.
