US soccer star Trinity Rodman has been sidelined with a back injury, as the daughter of Bulls legend Dennis faces an indefinite spell out of action.
Trinity, 22, told reporters last month that she didn’t think her back would ever again be ‘100 percent,’ and she was forced to leave a September NWSL game in a wheelchair due to the ongoing injury.
Now, the Washington Spirit have confirmed to ESPN that her back problems are keeping her off of the field once again.
‘Trinity is taking time away from team activities to manage her back,’ her team told ESPN in a statement. ‘We look forward to her returning when she’s healthy.’
Earlier on Saturday, Rodman’s agent, Mike Senkowski, also told The Washington Post that the forward would be temporarily stepping away and meeting with the Spirit’s doctor.
While Rodman was able to suit up in the Olympics last summer and started 20 games for the Spirit last season, she has previously described her back problems in a pessimistic tone.

Trinity Rodman refused to accept a public apology from her dad Dennis last year

Dennis watched her play for the Spirit in 2021, though Trinity has called him an ‘alcoholic’
‘It’s kind of an issue of it’s not one specific thing, it’s just the way that my back’s structured. And it’s more so management than like a curable fix,’ she said.
‘So I think we’ve managed it really well and I’m happy with the progression that we’ve had. But for me, I don’t think my back will ever be the way it was my rookie year, which is unfortunate.’
Despite her back issues, Rodman scored eight goals in NWSL play last season and scored three at the Paris Olympics as the USA won gold.
Speaking on the Call Her Daddy podcast in December, Trinity hit out at her ‘alcoholic’ father Dennis, accusing him of being absent for the majority of her life while claiming he is only her father ‘by blood’.
‘He’s not a dad,’ she told host Alex Cooper. ‘Maybe by blood, but nothing else.’
‘We tried to live with him,’ Trinity added, likely referring to herself and brother DJ. ‘But he’s having parties 24/7, bringing random b****es in. He loves the spotlight.’
Rodman later offered a lengthy public apology to his daughter on Instagram but Trinity was not impressed, branding the message ‘a joke.’
