This soccer hero was rarely out of ideas on the pitch, but he is officially out of ideas with his hair.
A former USA and Premier League star has called on fans to recommend a wig style after being left at his wits’ end by a series of failed hair transplants.
In an exasperated video shared on social media, the 43-year-old ruled out the prospect of another transplant or going bald.
And so, in a bid to conceal the march of Mother Nature, Landon Donovan wants your suggestions for his wig style.
The former USMNT captain said, ‘Alright guys, I need your help. Since I was 18, 19, 20, I’ve been dealing with that,’ as he ran a hand over his smooth scalp front. ‘Hairline used to be here and now this.
‘I tried everything. I tried the hair transplant here, tried it back here. Nothing has worked.

‘My options are now to shave it bald – don’t wanna do that, not an option for me.
‘Leave it as it is – not an option right now.
‘Or I can try the last thing which is basically a hair system, basically a wig to see if that works. That’s what I’m thinking about doing but I need your help.
‘If I do it, what type of hairstyle should I get? I’m sure there’ll be a lot of funny answers, banter, but real answers too. Thanks.’
It’s safe to say that Donovan has been flooded with responses, with more than a thousand comments on X within a couple of hours of him posting.
Quite a few encouraged him to embrace the full shave and grow out a beard, whereas others joked around with unrealistic wig styles and Ronaldo Nazario’s infamous 2002 World Cup haircut.
Last year, Donovan caused uproar on social media with a particularly disjointed hairstyle which consisted of bold sideburns.
Throughout his playing career, he always had a crew cut or an even buzz cut.
He is fondly remembered for his spell with LA Galaxy, where he won four MLS Cups and played alongside David Beckham
He received plenty of attention last year when he debuted a new hairstyle as a pundit
And what a career he had. Donovan racked up 668 games for club and country, playing for the likes of LA Galaxy, Everton, and even Bayern Munich.
He lifted six MLS Cups, played in three World Cups, and turned out 157 times for the USMNT, which he captained.
The attacking midfielder last played in Major League Soccer in 2016, then continued with short stints with Leon and the San Diego Sockers indoor team.
