Shropshire Council’s Shropshire Choices Support Finder 2026 for Adult Care and Support Services offers a wide range of advice and support to help people make the right choice to help retain their independence and stay well. The directory covers a wide range of topics, including:

  • Health and wellbeing
  • Social and physical activities
  • Help to stay independent
  • Equipment, gadgets and adaptations
  • What adult social care services are available, and how to plan your support
  • Support for unpaid carers.

Ruth Houghton, Shropshire Council’s Cabinet member for adult social care and public health, said:

“Shropshire Council’s priority is to ensure that every resident in Shropshire is supported to live the life they want, with dignity, independence and choice. The new Shropshire Support Finder 2026 brings together clear, accessible information about the many services, community groups and voluntary organisations working across our county to help people stay well for longer.”

“I am delighted that this resource is available to the people of Shropshire. By taking an early help and prevention approach, we are ensuring individuals and families receive the right support at the right time.

This guide aims to help our residents to understand their options, make informed decisions about their care, and know where to go for advice—whether they are looking to boost their health and wellbeing, plan for the future or find support for immediate challenges.”

The Council’s Adult Social Care website also provides information about a wide range of sources of help and support, including independent financial guidance, information about care homes and housing options. It can also help with keeping independent, getting out and about, keeping safe, health and wellbeing, employment and volunteering opportunities, and being a family carer.

Natalie McFall, Shropshire Council’s Interim Statutory Director of Adult Social Care (DASS), added:

“The new Shropshire Support Finder 2026 is a key resource that highlights the wide range of support available across Shropshire.

We are dedicated to helping residents live well, stay independent and remain connected to their communities.  By working closely with partners across health, voluntary and community sectors, we provide early, person‑centred support that enables people to make informed choices about their care.

“Providing clear information and advice at the right time empowers people to manage their own health and care, reducing reliance on formal services. For those who do require additional support, we remain committed to promoting independence and ensuring access to high‑quality, community‑based services.”
