The meeting highlighted key areas of cooperation, including international trade, environmental protection, organized crime prevention, and multilateral diplomacy.

Ambassador Correa congratulated Honduras for its initiative to host the Assembly of the International Coffee Organization (ICO), recognizing it as a reflection of the country’s inclusive development vision and commitment to poverty reduction. She reiterated the United Kingdom’s longstanding support for the ICO, headquartered in London since its founding in 1963, and emphasized the strategic advantages of maintaining the organization’s base in the UK.

Foreign Minister Bu Soto and Ambassador Correa also discussed Honduras’s upcoming launch of its National Strategy Against Organized Crime. The Ambassador praised the initiative and acknowledged the UK’s financial and technical support through the United Nations Office on Drugs and Crime (UNODC), part of a broader program assisting over 20 countries in developing crime prevention strategies.

The meeting further underscored the strength of UK-Honduras relations across trade, cooperation, and environmental protection. From 2021 to 2027, the UK is supporting conservation efforts in La Moskitia and the Trifinio region, through the Biodiverse Landscapes Fund. Ambassador Correa thanked the Foreign Ministry for its support and coordination with relevant government agencies.

Trade between the two nations continues to grow, with total bilateral commerce reaching £186 million in the year ending March 2025—a 9.4% increase. UK exports rose by 30.8%, while imports from Honduras increased by 5.6%, reflecting a dynamic and mutually beneficial economic relationship.

In closing, both officials reaffirmed their commitment to advancing shared goals in global peace, climate action, human rights, and democratic governance.
