UK-Germany Collaborative Innovation for Quantum Technologies 2026

Funding of up to £3 million for UK-registered organisations to support innovative projects in quantum technologies.

This competition opens on 12 February 2026 and closes at 11am on 15 April 2026.

Who it is for

This competition is open to collaborations only.

To lead a collaborative project your organisation must be a UK-registered business of any size.

You must work with at least one German-registered business applying for German Federal Ministry of Technology, Research and Space (BMFTR) funding, which must be a separate legal entity from UK partners.

To collaborate with the lead, your organisation must be one of the following UK-registered

  • business of any size
  • academic institution
  • research and technology organisation (RTO)

Your project must

  • focus on developing, prototyping and testing commercial quantum technologies within one of four priority themes
  • have a grant funding request of between £750,000 and £1 million allocated to UK organisations
  • last between 18 and 24 months
  • start on 1 November 2026
  • end by 31 October 2028

Support you can get

This competition aims is to strengthen collaborative research and development towards commercialising quantum technologies, through German and UK partnerships.

For feasibility studies and industrial research projects, you can get funding for your eligible project costs of

  • up to 70% if you are a micro or small organisation
  • up to 60% if you are a medium-sized organisation
  • up to 50% if you are a large organisation
