Hawaii police have arrested UFC legend BJ Penn for violating a temporary restraining order weeks after he was accused of domestic abuse.

Last month, Penn was arrested twice and charged with abusing his mother, Lorraine Shin, who described her son to police as delusional and subsequently filed for a temporary restraining order.

‘He believes I’m an imposter who has killed his family to gain control of the family assets,’ Shin said in the order, as reported by Big Island Now.

It’s unclear if Shinn’s restraining order is the one Penn is accused of violating before his latest arrest. Daily Mail has reached out to Hawaii police for further information.

He is due back in court on Friday at 11:30am local time after posting $3,000 bail.

Officers say they responded to an address on Pu’u’eo Street in Hilo, Hawaii after learning Penn entered the residence in violation of the temporary restraining order. He was arrested without incident, according to police.

Last month the 46-year-old Penn shared footage on Instagram of police arresting him at his home, with the video showing cops dragging him out of his bed before leading him away in handcuffs.

It was later revealed that the former two-weight UFC champion was booked into jail in Hilo at around 9:40pm that evening on a charge of ‘abuse family or household member: offensive physical contact.’ He was eventually released on $2,000 bail at 1:48am Monday.

Penn was arrested over multiple run-ins he had with his mother, whom he allegedly claimed to be an imposter.

Police said the woman told them he ‘took her mail and then shined a bright flashlight in her eyes when asked for the mail to be returned.’

She then claimed she was shoved against a car by Penn when she tried to move the light away from her eyes.

The fighter was arrested over the allegations before being released with a warning citation after posting bond. That citation ordered him to stay away from the alleged victim.

However, cops said he violated it just hours later when he showed up to the woman’s house early the next morning. Penn was therefore arrested for a second time on another charge of abuse of family or household member.

After leaving custody, the Hawaii-born American initially posted a clip of officers confronting him in his bedroom, before he shared more footage of the alleged bust-up with an elderly woman which led to his first arrest.

Penn claimed in the caption that the woman is a ‘fake Lorraine Shin’ – which is his mother’s name. Lorraine also appears to be 79 years old, according to public records.

The video in question seemingly captures someone waving a light, while a woman can be heard repeatedly screaming: ‘Hit me!’

Penn added in the caption: ‘[She] has tried to get me to assault her and she has already walked around my house with a gun when I asked her about my finances and my families finances. This lady knows nothing about business and is a murdering theif [sic]. The REAL LORRAINE SHIN MAKES THIS MORON LOOK PARKED’.

Penn’s mother since filed for a restraining order against her son after telling a court that she is convinced her son suffers from a rare psychological disorder known as Capgras syndrome – a delusional misidentification syndrome where a person falsely believes a person close to them has been replaced by an identical impostor.

Shin alleges that she has endured ‘extreme psychological abuse’ at the hands of the ex-UFC star after being accused of being an imposter who ‘killed his family’ and took on his mother’s identity.

Penn has previously posted a series of disturbing social media posts about his mother Lorraine and brothers Jay Dee, Reagan, and Kalani Mamazuka.

‘Hilo Police Department I need your help. My mother… my brothers… we’re (sic) all murdered and I need you to investigate,’ he recently wrote on Instagram.

‘I need you to investigate these guys get these people out of my house and my off my properties.’

He claimed they had been replaced by imposters who are now trying to ‘steal everything from his family’.

Penn competed in the UFC between 2001 and 2019 and won world titles in two divisions before being inducted into the Hall of Fame.
