The Tennessee Titans are releasing cornerback L’Jarius Sneed after two disappointing seasons together in a move that frees up $11.4million in cap space.
Sneed, a two-time Super Bowl champion with the Kansas City Chiefs, played only 12 games combined in 2024 and 2025 without a single interception and was placed on injured reserve in October.
The Titans gave him a four-year contract worth $76m, making him the NFL’s fifth highest-paid cornerback in March 2024 after a trade with the Chiefs.
Tennessee has already replaced the 29-year-old after the new league year began on Wednesday, with the team signing Alontae Taylor from New Orleans, Cor’Dale Flott from the New York Giants and Joshua Williams from Kansas City.
They started the NFL’s legal tampering period Monday by agreeing to deals worth at least $270m and continue to add players to a roster that features only 18 draft picks selected by the team. General manager Mike Borgonzi can clear more salary cap space if needed.

Sneed was indicted on a misdemeanor charge of failing to report felony aggravated assault last year over an alleged Texas shooting in 2024
Last year, Sneed was indicted by a Dallas County grand jury on a misdemeanor charge of failing to report felony aggravated assault to law enforcement over an alleged Texas shooting back in 2024.
Footage which emerged in November shows the NFL star driving a Lamborghini at a suburban Dallas dealership minutes before two men allege that shots were fired at them from that vehicle.
In the surveillance video, Sneed can be seen getting out of the Lamborghini Urus, then using crutches to walk past the men and up stairs into the dealership at 3:22 pm on that date.
He then walks out about a minute later in the video, which was shared with the Associated Press by attorney Levi McCathern, who represents the two men in a civil lawsuit against Sneed over the shooting.
The Titans player was on injured reserve at the time of the alleged shooting.
Sneed was drafted from Louisiana Tech in the fourth round in 2020 by Kansas City. He won back-to-back Super Bowls with the Chiefs in 2022 and 2023 before heading to Tennessee.
