Two men have died in separate road crashes in counties Armagh and Antrim.

Paddy McDonald, from the Castleblayney area, died following a road traffic collision involving a car and a cyclist on the Monaghan Road in Middletown at 14:20 BST on Friday.

Philip Taylor, who was a motorcyclist and from Newtownabbey, died at the scene following a single vehicle collision on the Knockan Road in Broughshane at about 18:50 BST later the same day.

Police are appealing for anyone who witnessed either collision or who has dash-cam footage to contact them.

Following the incident in County Armagh, Sinn Féin Armagh councillor Ashley Mallon said that news of the fatality had caused “sadness and shock” within the local area.

“This is heartbreaking news for this man’s family and friends, and also the wider community,” she said.

Both roads where closed for sometime but have now reopened.
