Two motorways crashes have caused delays of up to an hour for morning commuters.

A two-car crash at Simister Island, Bury, at 22:30 GMT on Sunday closed parts of both the M66 and M60 at Junction 18, National Highways said.

The crash closed the M66 in both directions at Junction 4 with delays “in excess of 45 minutes”, the agency said.

A separate three-car crash on the M60 anti-clockwise between Junctions 13 at Worsley in Salford, and Junction 12 for Winton, has caused delays of more than 45 minutes.
