The Daily Mail claims Labour has been “plunged” into a fresh China spying crisis with the arrest of a lobbyist who is married to the Labour MP, Joani Reid. The paper says his detention on suspicion of assisting a foreign intelligence service threatens to reignite the row over Labour’s relationship with Beijing. The Mirror says she had defended him. Reid has said she is “not part of” her husband’s business activities, and has never asked a question on China-related matters.
