Donald Trump says wind is “the most expensive form of energy” and has blamed Prime Minister Keir Starmer’s unpopularity on his support for wind farms. But in reality, wind is currently one of the UK’s cheapest energy sources.

Offshore wind averages around £97/MWh, while onshore wind is closer to £77/MWh. Gas, meanwhile, has surged to roughly £108/MWh following instability in the Middle East.

Unlike fossil fuels, renewables such as wind and solar are far less exposed to wars and supply shocks, making them far less vulnerable to global crises and sudden price spikes.
