The family of a man who died with his dog after being hit by a car has said the “only solace” is that the pair are together.
Andrew Old, 61, was walking with his dog Liddy in Greenwood Road in Wythenshawe, Manchester, on 9 March when two cars crashed, with one striking them.
In a tribute released by Greater Manchester Police, Mr Old’s family described him as a “happy-go-lucky brother”.
“We miss his smiles, his laughter, his jokes and his hourly phone calls.”
They said he died “only metres from his home, while walking his lovely dog”.
“The only solace we have is that Andrew and Liddy were not alone at such a horrific time and that they were together.”
A woman in her 40s, who was arrested on suspicion of causing death by dangerous driving, was released on bail, police said.
