Tottenham are currently out of the running for Axel Disasi despite previously agreeing a loan deal with Chelsea, sources have confirmed to Mail Sport.
It is over to Aston Villa, therefore, who have been Disasi’s preference.
The issue is Chelsea see Villa as direct rivals for a Champions League place, so they would have preferred to do business with Tottenham.
However, Disasi rejected a move to Spurs, who have already signed one central defender this winter in the shape of Austria international Kevin Danso.
Disasi has fallen out of favour under Enzo Maresca, who has transformed the Blues since taking charge in the summer.
The French defender has been limited to only six appearances in the Premier League this term, with the vast majority of his minutes coming in the Europa Conference League.
Tottenham Hotspur are out of the running to sign Aston Villa target Axel Disasi from Chelsea
Disasi captained Chelsea in November when they won 2-0 away to Heidenheim in Germany.
He signed a six-year contract in August 2023 when he arrived at Stamford Bridge from Monaco in a £38.7million deal.
Since then, he has made 61 first-team appearances for the Blues in all competitions.
