Tommy DeVito is facing change in more ways than one this summer, having been cut by the Giants and picked up by the Patriots – all while flying the family nest.
The 27-year-old New Jersey native failed to make the final roster at his boyhood team, ending his dream after two seasons and 12 games.
While many expected it to be the beginning of the end for his NFL career, he was quickly claimed off waivers by the New England Patriots – giving himself another shot at the big-time.
The move north means he has left his family home, having been living with his mom and dad close to the Giants practice facility since the end of his college days.
‘There’s talk he might actually move into my basement!’ DeVito’s agent Sean Stellato, who resides in Massachusetts, joked in an interview with People this week.

His eccentric agent Sean Stellato even joked DeVito may move into his basement
DeVito’s proud Italian-American parents Alexandra and Tom, incredibly, are still attending every one of their son’s practices too, according to Stellato.
‘It’s going to be a little transitional, but that four and a half hour ride is fully drivable, especially for his dad,’ he revealed. ‘He’s got energy level for days and it’s not too far.’
DeVito has become infamous in recent years for eating his mom’s chicken cutlets and despite him heading out of state, it appears that won’t be changing.
‘There’ll be frozen cutlets filling up the freezer, she’ll make sure he has all her homemade sauces and all that other good stuff as well,’ Stellato adds.

DeVito played two seasons for his boyhood team but couldn’t make the final 2025 roster
‘Your firstborn leaving the nest… it’ll be a little transitional, but I know they’ll make things work – and they’re a big FaceTime family, which is pretty cool.’
After bursting onto the scene in 2023 with six starts and a 3-3 record, DeVito didn’t play as much in 2024 and his chances of representing the Giants took a hit when the team added Russell Wilson, Jameis Winston and Jaxson Dart to the QB room during the offseason.
It was initially believed DeVito would find himself a spot on the practice roster for 2025, but head coach Brian Daboll opted to cut him completely.
‘Now he’s ready to make the transition,’ Stellato claimed of his client. ‘He’s looking forward to the opportunity and challenges in front of him to now be a member of the New England Patriots.’
