Julian Edelman made an awkward mistake over a simple math question during Fox’s pregame coverage of the preseason game between the Bears and Bills.
The former New England Patriots wide receiver joined host Curt Menefee to preview the matchup and highlight key issues for both teams heading into the 2024 season.
While analyzing the Bears’ offense, Edelman focused on one of the biggest concerns surrounding rookie Caleb Williams and the number of sacks he took last year.
Edelman attempted to put the stat in perspective with a quick mental math problem, but the delivery didn’t go quite as planned.
‘I’m not a math guy, what’s 2-70?’ Edelman asked, pausing in the middle of his breakdown.
His question led to a confused reaction from Menefee, who quickly tried to correct the mistake.

Edelman was attempting to make a point regarding Bears star Caleb Williams
‘I think you mean 70-2?’ Menefee replied, attempting to steer the segment back on track.
‘Same thing,’ Edelman responded, clearly brushing off the misstep.
After the moment of confusion, Edelman explained the point he was trying to make.
‘That’s 68, Curt,’ he said. ’68 times he was sacked last year. So, I expect Caleb Williams to go out there and get hit less.’
The moment caused a bit of hesitation in the broadcast, but with Menefee’s quick assist, Edelman was able to deliver his point.
The clip quickly circulated online, where viewers picked up on the awkward exchange.
Some fans on social media poked fun at the error, while others praised Menefee for helping keep the segment moving without making the moment more uncomfortable.
Despite the minor stumble, Edelman continued with the rest of the pregame show without further incident.
