Tom Brady has unlocked the secrets to his drastic on-air improvement during the second year of his blockbuster broadcasting debut.

Fox struck gold in 2022 when the network landed the signature of the seven-time Super Bowl champion, inking him to an eye-watering 10-year, $375million contract.

However, the legendary quarterback didn’t live up to the demanding expectations in his rookie season, with many fans ripping into Brady’s rocky start.

Yet, as his second season comes to a close, it is indisputable that the 48-year-old has come on leaps and bounds.

Now, Brady has revealed the changes he made in a desperate quest to change his fortunes as an NFL analyst.

Brady admitted that he would overload himself with countless sheets of notes that would hinder his natural actions.

‘I used to say, “All the stuff I prepared, I could read from start to finish in a three-hour broadcast, and I wouldn’t get through all the information,”‘ Brady told The Athletic.

His reliance on his notes, which he called ‘TMI’ (too much information), meant Brady couldn’t react quickly and naturally to the action that was unfolding in front of him, limiting the insight viewers would be tuning in for.

This year, Brady said that he tried to approach broadcasting like a quarterback, changing his outlook on the job.

‘I started to transition this year into, “Let me do more of how I did it as a quarterback,” because that’s really where my comfort is,’ Brady said during his interview with The Atletic. ‘As opposed to, ‘Let me try to prepare as a broadcaster.”

Brady also made slight tweaks and changes in the booth to facilitate his partnership with co-commentator Kevin Burkhardt.

He had the telestrator moved from the outside of the booth to between him and Burkhardt to facilitate a more natural flow of conversation.

The move meant that the pair were no longer having to turn their backs on one another to view the monitor for replays.

The legendary quarterback was accused of being too soft on players in the booth when he first started calling games, while his minority ownership of the Las Vegas Raiders also ignited conflict of interest allegations.

Brady’s second season on Fox has been significantly more impressive, with his recent analysis on throwing the ball in windy conditions earning him huge plaudits.

Despite his increasing success, ever since he signed his mammoth 10-year deal fans have questioned whether Brady will reach the end of it.

Yet earlier this week lead Fox NFL producer Richie Zyontz let it slip that Brady is in it for the long haul.

‘I think he’s long-term for it, for sure,’ Zyontz told Sports Business Journal about Brady.

‘You can’t predict the future and you can foresee unforeseen events. But I would say right now he’s committed to doing this as long as he can and he’s gotten damn good at it.’

While he is earning more and more praise as a commentator, Brady is still facing scrutiny over an apparent conflict of interest that sees him juggle work on Fox with his ownership of the Raiders.

Sports analyst Skip Bayless reignited his feud with the seven-time Super Bowl winner earlier this month over his post-retirement roles, branding it ‘ridiculous’.

‘He’s now a crucial minority owner with a majority opinion of the Raiders. And he’s actually their chief advisor, sort of their unofficial GM,’ Bayless explained on his podcast, ‘The Skip Bayless Show.’

‘And that really offended me because you can’t be a Fox broadcaster [or]commentator and do your job correctly if you’re going to choose to own a big slice of the team that’s worth $300m. It’s just ridiculous.’

Bayless, who used to star on Fox Sports’ ‘Undisputed’ show, also went on to take aim at Brady’s skill in the broadcast booth, appearing to suggest that the seven-time Super Bowl winner was boring.

‘As a broadcaster, he’s just blah,’ Bayless said. ‘He’s so blah, he’s terribly blah. It’s all captain obvious, silly, lame. He tries to be funny, it’s just goofy. He’s not cut out to be a broadcaster to start with, and they’re trying to prop him up.’

Bayless continued: ‘Now popping up in the middle of my games is Tom Brady doing Pizza Hut delivery boy commercials. He’s delivering, ‘Hut hut!’ He’s doing his football cadence. It’s pathetic.

‘Do you really need to stoop to that, Tom? He’s as unsuccessful post-football as he was successful during football. That’s what’s happening to Tom Brady.’
