A further three people have been arrested after a gun was allegedly pointed at a police officer’s face.

The incident unfolded when officers approached a group seen riding e-bikes dangerously on Great Clowes Street, Salford, at about 12:00 BST on Tuesday.

When they went to arrest one member of the group, another aimed a “suspected firearm” in an officer’s face before fleeing.

A 32-year-old man was arrested on Wednesday night in the Whalley Range area of Manchester on suspicion of possessing a firearm with intent to cause fear and possession with intent to supply Class A drugs.

Two women, aged aged 56 and 33, were arrested on suspicion of assisting him and a gun believed to have been used in the incident was also recovered, Greater Manchester Police said.

It comes after two men, aged 20 and 21, were arrested shortly after the incident, which saw one police officer using a Taser and calling for support.

Det Supt Simon Moyles said: “This was a frightening and totally unacceptable incident that occurred in broad daylight.”

Witnesses or anyone with information has been urged to contact police.
