The claim Donald Trump revived about voter fraud in his State of the Union address on Tuesday (24 February) isn’t new. It’s a six-year-old conspiracy theory. But now he’s calling for federal legislation in response to those heavily debunked claims.

“ No more crooked mail-in ballots,” Trump said.

“The only way [Democrats] can get elected is to cheat,” he added.

Audits, court rulings, and investigations after 2020 found no proof that mail-in ballots stole the election.

Now he’s pushing Congress to pass the SAVE America Act, requiring proof of citizenship to register, mandating photo ID when casting their ballots, and removing the option vote using mail-in ballots for millions.
