  • Instagram story from footy star was telling

Broncos star Payne Haas won’t be staying at Red Hill beyond 2026 – with an Instagram story from the prop confirming the news Brisbane fans will dread.

Haas, 26, joined the club in 2016 as an in-demand teenager, and the hulking front-rower has more than lived up to his considerable potential, with a premiership last year.

Arguably the best forward in the game, Haas stunned footy fans after it was revealed on February 8 he will join Wayne Bennett’s South Sydney next year.

A 10-day cooling off period has Broncos supporters hopeful Haas will do a dramatic backflip, but that appears highly unlikely given his recent social media post.

Haas responded to a piece from Channel Nine confirming teammate Adam Reynolds will retire at the end of the season, posting: ‘last ride brother.’

The telling update means the father-of-two will join the likes of David Fifita, Latrell Mitchell and Cameron Murray in red and green ahead of the 2027 NRL season.

Haas was coached by Wayne Bennett previously at the Broncos, who is no doubt elated to have the front-rower on his books from 2027 onwards

At the club’s recent season launch, Broncos forward Pat Carrigan was asked if he will try and convince Haas to stay.

‘I’ll support him no matter what he does,’ Carrigan replied. ‘But trust me: I love him running out in a Bronx jersey.’

Reynolds also stated he will try and ‘twist his arm’, but the bombshell move to Sydney now appears to be a formality.

Daily Mail understands Brisbane have tabled a monster five-year deal, but Haas’ mind is made up.

Haas made his first grade debut in 2018 and quickly emerged as one of the game’s premier front-rowers.

In 2019, he was crowned Dally M Rookie of the Year and made his State of Origin debut for NSW after just 10 first grade games.

Haas has since been a regular for the Blues, helping win Origin series in 2019, 2021 and 2024, while also representing Australia and later committing to Samoa internationally in 2025.

Despite Brisbane’s struggles during the 2020 wooden spoon season, Haas consistently performed at an elite level and has since collected multiple club and Dally M Prop of the Year honours.

He played a key role in Brisbane’s run to the 2023 Grand Final and was part of the Broncos’ 2025 NRL premiership-winning side.
