  • Lewis-Skelly became youngest player in history to score on his first senior  cap
  • LISTEN NOW: It’s All Kicking Off! Is England’s squad good enough to win the World Cup?

This is the heartwarming moment that Myles Lewis-Skelly’s family were seen celebrating his goal on debut for England against Albania at Wembley on Friday night.

Making his first senior start for his country, it took Lewis-Skelly just 20 minutes to get on the scoresheet and give the Three Lions the lead.

ITV cameras could then be seen panning to the youngster’s grandmother and sister as they embraced one another in the crowd following his goal.

In netting at the age of 18 years and 176 days, Lewis-Skelly became the youngest player in history to score on his senior England debut.

A second England goal after half-time from captain Harry Kane meant the Three Lions made the perfect start to life under Tuchel – who took over from Gareth Southgate back in January.

Lewis-Skelly was also praised for his performance by Arsenal and England team-mate Declan Rice, who lauded the youngster’s ‘fearless’ attitude.

Speaking to ITV after the final whistle, Rice told ITV: ‘He [Myles Lewis-Skelly] is fearless. He does everything right off the pitch and he is only 18’.

‘I knew he was going to play like that tonight because of the confidence he has. He has kept his feet on the ground and it is only the start for him.’

Lewis-Skelly being handed a first cap under Tuchel comes in what has been an impressive rise into senior football for the Arsenal academy graduate.

Having not even played for the Gunners’ first team prior to this campaign, the Hale End graduate has come into his own at left-back under the tutelage of Mikel Arteta.

While he has only been in the starting eleven for a matter of months, he looks to have a bright future ahead of him in north London.

He will hope to add to his maiden cap and goal tally in England’s next qualifier, which sees them host Latvia on Monday night.

Lewis-Skelly in then likely to be back in action for Arsenal when they host Fulham in the Premier League on April 1 after the international break.
