  • Image has stunned fans across the world for heartwarming reason

A weird image of the Australian bobsleigh team’s bobsled has gone viral on social media -– because of its orange and white colouring.

Sarah Blizzard, and teammate Desi Johnson qualified for the Winter Olympics in Milano Cortina recently.

But the pair has gained more media coverage than ever, in the lead up to their event kicking off in Italy.

It’s now been revealed Blizzard is loaning out her bobsleigh to the Dutch pair of Dave Wesselink and Jelen Franjic, all so they can compete.

The likeable Aussie has been doing this for a large period of time.

Her assistance began when Wesselink and Franjic were on the verge of missing the qualification criteria to secure a spot in the Olympic Games.

Their bobsleigh was deemed ‘not good enough’ to deliver a strong result on the course in St Moritz, Switzerland.

Wesselink and Franjic needed to finish in the top eight at that World Cup if they wanted to compete in Italy, so they asked Blizzard for a leg up.

Amazingly, the Dutch team secured their spot in the Olympic Winter Games with the Aussie’s bobsleigh.

They’re also set to use the equipment during the competition, in tandem with the Aussies.

‘The sled is mine. I own it myself,’ Blizzard said on TikTok.

‘It is not Team Australia’s (sled), it is my own personal one that I bought second-hand.

‘That (two-person sled) one is a lot faster and a lot more competitive.

‘I had to do that to be able to step up and be competitive.’

The 29-year-old Aussie has been quite outspoken in relation to costs associated with the sport.

Blizzard has also been very vocal on how teams from other nations have assisted her across her career.

A brand new professional bobsleigh typically costs upwards of $70,000, with prices varying.

Blizzard, and teammate Desi Johnson, are set to compete in the two-woman event at the Olympics, with hopes they’ll be able to claim an unlikely gold medal for Australia.

They’ll be in action towards the event of the event, which kicked off with the opening ceremony.

Australia has won 19 Winter Olympics medals, with six being gold.

Opening Ceremony flag bearer Jakara Anthony is the most recent Aussie to stand at the top step of the podium.

The Winter Olympics end on February 22.
