A terror probe has been launched after French police thwarted a suspected bomb attack outside a Bank of America building in Paris early Saturday.

One suspect was detained at the scene while attempting to ignite a device, with another managing to escape.

The national anti-terrorism prosecutor’s office (PNAT) has launched an investigation into alleged terrorism-related offences.

“Well done to the rapid intervention of a Paris police prefecture unit, which made it possible to thwart a violent act of a terrorist nature overnight in Paris,” Interior Minister Laurent Nuñez said.

The incident occurs amidst increased security in France around sites linked to US interests and the Jewish community following the outbreak of the Iran war.
