The third round of the Valspar Championship took a scary turn on Saturday when a young fan became trapped under a golf cart.
Play was halted on the 15th hole at Copperhead after the girl was struck by the cart and then became stuck beneath it.
Five-time major champion Brooks Koepka and Danny Walker were playing the 15th hole when the terrifying accident took place.
According to Golf Channel, Koepka stepped off the fairway to check on the girl and ‘comfort her.’ Thankfully, she was was freed from under the cart – which had reportedly been carrying fans around the course.
The young girl, whose parents were also in the crowd, was checked over by medical staff and it was reported that she escaped serious injury.
After his round, Koepka spoke about the incident, admitting he ‘felt terrible’ for the girl and ‘it shouldn’t have happened.’

‘She’s OK, thankfully, so that’s all that matters,’ the former LIV Golf star said. ‘I know she’s probably a little scared, and I just felt for her at the time.’
‘It’s unfortunate, it shouldn’t have happened,’ Koepka continued. ‘But as long as she’s OK – and nothing crazy happened to her – then it will be OK.’
In a statement to PEOPLE, tournament officials confirmed the girl did not suffer serious injuries from the ‘slowly-moving’ vehicle. They also praised Koepka and Walker for doing a ‘commendable job’ in helping at the scene.
‘After a few anxious moments, it was determined that she had not sustained any serious injuries,’ the statement read.
‘After her mother apologized, she left on her own with her family, and to our knowledge did not require any further medical assistance beyond that she quickly received on the scene,” the representative said.
‘Pros Brooks Koepka and Danny Walker did a commendable job in summoning help and providing comfort and assistance… play was delayed at the hole for about five minutes.’
Heading into Sunday’s final round, Koepka was tied for 16th at three-under-par after shooting 71 on Saturday, with Sungjae Im in position to win the Valspar Championship.
At the end of round three, Im held a two-stroke lead over Brandt Snedeker, the 45-year-old U.S. Presidents Cup captain, and David Lipsky.
