Football fans have been left concerned after a field storm involving thousands of supporters took place on Friday night.

What was set out to be a historic night for the Virginia Cavaliers – after they beat No. 8 ranked Florida state 46-38 in overtime – was marred by the incident.

In the final seconds of the game, FSU had one final chance to level the score but QB Thomas Castellanos saw his pass intercepted by Virginia’s Ja’Son Prevard.

The catch meant that the historic win was sealed and, almost immediately, there were thousands of fans on the field celebrating the win.

A clip of the incident, which has gone viral, showed the thousands of Virginia fans lined up on the touchline and waiting for the game to be over.

Once Prevard made the catch, he was quickly engulfed by the sea of Cavaliers supporters – which left a lot of fans concerned for player safety.

Similarly, one FSU wide receiver, who was the intended recipient of the throw, was next to Prevard after the catch was made and quickly got consumed by the crowd.
