Two teenage boys accused of murdering a 38-year-old man have appeared in Cardiff Crown Court.

Kamran Aman died after police were called to Barry, Vale of Glamorgan, on 30 June.

The boys, aged 16 and 17 from Llantwit Major, Vale of Glamorgan, cannot be named because of their age.

The defendants, who appeared in crown court for the first time, did not enter a plea and both were remanded in youth custody.

Both will next appear at a hearing in Cardiff Crown Court in August where they will enter a plea.

Appearing via video link and wearing a grey sweater, the 17-year-old defendant answered, “yeah, yeah” when he was asked to confirm his name and address.

Family members were visibly upset in the public gallery during the hearing.

The 16-year-old defendant appeared separately via video link, wearing a black and white Nike t-shirt.

In a tribute following his death last week, Mr Aman’s family said he was a “devoted husband, a loving father, a cherished son, brother, uncle, and loyal friend”.

“Kamran was the heart of his family and loved within his community,” they added.

“Known for his, generous spirit, and kind heart, Kamran brought warmth and strength to everyone he met. His absence leaves an immeasurable void in the lives of all who knew him.”
