Funding, mentorship, and industry exposure to support growth for businesses looking to make a measurable impact on food waste.

Camden Council has launched the Camden Challenge Prize 2025 to tackle food waste in the Hospitality and Food Service sector. The competition offers innovators a chance to win funding to develop and scale ideas that reduce and manage food waste across the Camden Council area.

Food waste is a significant issue in Camden, with thousands of food businesses contributing to surplus and inedible waste. The prize focuses on three key challenges

  • Reducing food surplus by helping businesses better understand and manage excess food.
  • Influencing workplace culture and practices to make waste reduction a natural daily habit.
  • Managing inedible food waste to reduce landfill and improve recycling or renewable energy use.

The prize is open to individuals, groups, organisations and businesses across all sectors from anywhere in the United Kingdom, provided their solutions can be tested and applied within Camden. The competition awards £75,000 to the winner and £25,000 to the runner-up, with additional £5,000 grants available to four finalists during the prototyping stage.

Find more information on the Camden Challenge Prize and how to apply.

The deadline for applications is 5pm on Tuesday 30 September 2025.

Applicant webinar

Camden Council will hold an online question and answer session at 12.30pm on Wednesday 3 September 2025 to assist potential applicants – register now.
