Salford Red Devils boss Paul Rowley said:

“A couple of weeks ago I’d talked about some green shoots against Hull, though we got overwhelmed in the second half, but today we hung in and it was probably as good a performance as we’ve had.

“We’re disappointed to lose the game but I thought we competed and we wouldn’t be walking out embarrassed if we’d won the game. I thought it was quite evenly matched most of the game.

“There was some really good things for us. We dominated territory in the first half in particular. But credit to Warrington, they got the job done and that’s, I guess, all it’s about sometimes. But there’s something for us to work with and build on.”

Warrington Wolves head coach Sam Burgess told Radio Merseyside:

“It was a disappointing performance, no doubt about it. We had a great week’s practice but it just didn’t transfer.

“I don’t know what the players did between training and today, but we came with the wrong attitude, I’d say.

“On the other side, Salford were really physical, played with great spirit and (Jayden) Nikorima troubled us all night and (Esan) Marsters was a handful. They had some great signs.

“We expected it. Salford have been building over the past couple of weeks, had some consistency and have got a bit of quality on the field, so I knew they’d be good.”
