Stephen A. Smith has concerns over the implications of an OnlyFans model earning more than many of the NBA’s most popular players.
Sophie Rain recently revealed her astonishing earnings from the site, where fans pay to see images and videos from content creators.
The 20-year-old posted screenshots which suggested she had made $43.4million over the past 12 months – including more than $4m from one fan.
‘I guess he might be the horniest man in America, huh?’ the ESPN analyst said on ‘The Stephen A. Smith Show’.
‘To put the total earnings in perspective, Sophie Rain made more money on OnlyFans than many of the NBA’s biggest stars… Anthony Davis, Luka Doncic, Kyrie Irving, Anthony Edwards.’
Smith then pointed out that in 2023, OnlyFans content creators earned a collective total of $6.6billion.

OnlyFans creator Sophie Rain recently shared that she had made over $43million last year
Rain’s earnings dwarfed those of the likes of Anthony Davis and Anthony Edwards
‘(That) exceeds the total of salaries earned of the entire National Basketball Association, which was $4.9bn,’ he said.
‘Ms Raine says she is a devout Christian and a virgin… and despite that, the man gave her damn near $5m. That’s new meaning to pervert for him.
‘What else can he be described as? Why are you paying a girl on OnlyFans nearly $5m?’
Smith claims he has never been on OnlyFans and he had never previously heard of Rain before reading about her earnings.
‘And this is what’s blowing me away,’ he said.
‘The scary part about this is that that it will encourage people desperate for a quick buck to do anything that they think will generate money… who knows what that’s going to create?
He added: ‘You think there aren’t going to be people out there that say: “Well what if I was willing to do something physical, what if I was willing to do porn?”
Luka Doncic’s (right) wage also gets nowhere near Rain’s astronomical 2024 earnings
The OnlyFans creator, 20, has enjoyed a hugely lucrative rise to fame over recent months
While OnlyFans has proved to be a decisive topic, athletes have at times used the platform to add money to their bank accounts.
Canadian pole vaulter Alysha Newman uses the platform, and went viral over the summer (and added 20,000 followers) when she twerked after nailing a jump at the Paris Games.
‘There’s always a [stigma] around it, and I am well aware of it,’ she told Mail Sport. ‘But I have so much faith in the company and where it’s going.’
Newman would go on to win a bronze medal in Paris. Several other Olympians, including British diver Jack Laugher, have used the platform as well.
