  • Roosters recruit Reece Robson to be a father again

NSW Origin star Reece Robson is working towards his Sydney Roosters debut next month – and he has a spring in his step after news his family is growing.

Robson’s glamorous partner Ellie Carmichael posted a baby scan on Instagram confirming the happy development, with the couple already proud parents to daughter Hazel, who was born in early 2024.

The hooker, 27, has joined the Tricolours from North Queensland Cowboys on a four-year deal, and Robson will also be keen to keep his Origin spot with the Blues.

Daily Mail understands Robson’s contract is worth around $3million.

He made his first grade debut with the St George Illawarra Dragons in 2018, before securing a move to Townsville two years later.

Robson feels he can ‘elevate’ his game playing alongside the likes of James Tedesco and fellow recruit Daly Cherry-Evans.

‘I’ve loved my time up here (at the Cowboys) under Toddy (coach Todd Payten) and (general manager) Michael Luck,’ Robson told the Sydney Morning Herald.

‘They’ve been great and gave me my real shot in the NRL and the opportunity to play my best football. I owe them a lot for that, and that’s why it was so hard for me to make the decision to leave.

‘When I came to this club from the Dragons, I made a decision to step out of my comfort zone. I’d like to think that challenge brought the best out in me.

‘Now I’m probably at a point where I can step out of that comfort zone again and elevate my game to another level with a different perspective on football and playing a different style.’

Tedesco knows Robson will be a significant asset at dummy-half, and the skipper also lauded the experience of Cherry-Evans, who has jumped ship from the Manly Sea Eagles.

‘Daly has been awesome with his professionalism and his leadership,’ the fullback said.

‘He has come into a new environment and (just) got to work as he adjusts to our playing style.

‘It takes a lot of pressure off me to be the main voice, the way he is able to get a message across very calmly and clearly to the team…it will be invaluable.’

Trent Robinson’s men begin their 2026 campaign on the road against the New Zealand Warriors on March 6 in Auckland.

According to the TAB, they are rated a $7.00 chance to win the premiership behind Brisbane ($5.00) and Penrith ($6.00).
