Greater Manchester is getting ready for the Oasis hometown gigs

Oasis fever has already taken hold across Greater Manchester ahead of their run of hometown gigs which kick of this week.

The Gallagher brothers, from Burnage, are set to play five sold-out shows at Heaton Park on 11, 12, 16, 19 and 20 July, with about 80,000 fans expected at each.

Given how huge the gigs are expected to be, organisers have released a series of updates for those attending the first two shows on Friday and Saturday.

Here’s what to expect once you get inside the venue, including how much a pint will cost, and what time each act is expected to take the stage.

Full stage times

The gates to Heaton Park are set to open at 15:00 BST, but organisers have advised ticket-holders to plan ahead and arrive early to allow time to get through the crowds.

Support acts Cast and Richard Ashcroft will then take to the stage before Oasis, with curfew at 22:30 BST.

The full details are as follows:

Gates – 15:00

Cast – 18:00

Richard Ashcroft – 19:00

Oasis – 20:15

Curfew – 22:30

Weather warning

With temperatures set to get as high as 30C (86F) and 32C (90F) respectively on Friday and Saturday, organisers have advised attendees to take extra care of themselves and each other in the heat.

Fans are urged to stay hydrated. Sun protection including sunscreen and, most importantly, bucket hats, are strongly encouraged.

What can I bring in?

Given the weather, guests will be allowed to bring a sealed plastic bottle of water – up to 500ml – into the venue.

For safety reasons, the bottle must be made of collapsible plastic, and metal and solid plastic bottles will not be allowed in.

Unsealed bottles will be emptied before entry.

There will be water refill points around.

Bottles of sunscreen up to 200ml will also be allowed in.

Pint cost

To help cool down inside, the Heaton Park bar and beer garden will be open, with pints of lager and cider available for £6.50 each.
