Watford staff and players are left FURIOUS after their wages were reduced by as much £300 last month without prior warning as a contribution for the food they eat at the training ground

  • Watford staff and players had money deducted from their wages by the club
  • They felt employees should contribute to food they eat at the training ground
  • Staff were not informed of the impending deduction and have been left fuming

Watford staff and players were left furious after the club deducted money from their wages without consent as a contribution to food at the training ground.

Employees were left astonished last month when they found their monthly wages had been reduced by as much as £300 because the club felt they should be financially contributing to the food they eat at the club’s London Colney HQ.

Players and staff were not told about the impending deductions to their wages and have been left fuming.

‘We wouldn’t mind as much if the food was nice, but it’s miles off,’ said one source.

‘Meanwhile, the McDonalds round the corner has seen their profits go through the roof!’

Following their relegation from the Premier League last season, Watford are in real danger of missing out on promotion with the club currently in 10th – four points adrift of the play-off spots.

They sacked Slaven Bilic after just six months in charge on Tuesday and have replaced him with Chris Wilder.

Bilic lost his job at Vicarage Road following a difficult run of one win in eight matches.

Bilic is the second managerial casualty at Watford this season after Rob Edwards lost his job last year.

And the club moved quickly to secure a deal for former Sheffield United and Middlesbrough boss Wilder.

Wilder had been out of work since October since his sacking at the Riverside.
