Manchester United supporters have been mocked by their own fan base for an ’embarrassingly bad’ chant about incoming manager Erik ten Hag, with one admitting the song will ‘haunt him forever’.

Ten Hag is set to arrive from Ajax in the summer with a big job ahead of him to rebuild a broken United group who have underperformed massively this season.

Though his work with United won’t start until around July when pre-season starts, that hasn’t stopped a group of fans from devising a new song about him as excitement builds towards the beginning of his reign.

The Dutchman will arrive this summer

Manchester United fans have been mocked for their chant about incoming boss Erik ten Hag

But the song hasn’t exactly been given critical acclaim. In fact, United fans have looked to distance themselves from the song after a video emerged of a crowd singing it in a bar before the club’s 3-0 win over Brentford on Monday night.

The chant takes the tune from iconic England hit ‘Vindaloo’ and sees fans counting from one to 10 by saying ‘one Hag, two Hag…’ before reaching ‘ten Hag’.

United fans were the first to express their dismay about the song after the video was posted online.

‘I feel unwell after watching that,’ read one fan’s post, while another said ‘that Ten Hag chant will haunt me forever’.

Some fans called it 'embarrasingly bad' and joked Ten Hag may now U-turn his decision to join

Another suggested the song itself could make the Dutchman change his mind about joining the club.

‘If Ten Hag decides to f*** United off after seeing that chant I wouldn’t blame him, worst thing I’ve ever heard.’

One post simply read: ‘Just sack him now’ and another called it ’embarrassingly bad’.

Rival fans were also quick to pounce on the song and mock United supporters, with one Chelsea fan labelling it ‘bad beyond belief’.

A Liverpool fan also commented on the song, posting three vomiting emojis.
