‘Kick this team out the MLS’: Angry USMNT fans SLAM ‘garbage club’ LAFC for celebrating Gareth Bale scoring against the USA for Wales in the 1-1 tie at the World Cup

USA fans were left fuming at MLS Cup winner LAFC on Monday after it struggled to toe the line as Gregg Berhalter’s men played Wales in its first World Cup game.

The USMNT were in action in its first World Cup game in over eight years but was held to a disappointing 1-1 draw by Group B rival Wales, whose goal came from a Gareth Bale penalty in the 82nd minute.

Bale, of course, has played for LAFC in Major League Soccer this year and scored in the MLS final against Philadelphia Union but was looking to inflict misery on his adopted country in Qatar.

LAFC got an angry response for celebrating Gareth Bale’s goal against USA with this tweet

And as he scored to equalize for Wales against USA, the LAFC Twitter account posted a picture of Bale holding the Wales flag with the caption: ‘BAAAAAAAALE!!!’.

The tweet was met with almost complete disapproval from US fans, one of which called on the MLS to remove LAFC from its competitions.

The Twitter user wrote: ‘MLS, kick this team out of the league. Why would an American club team be rooting against an America?

‘They have no place in the American sporting landscape. Perhaps they will find more lucrative opportunities in Wales.’

Another response said: ‘Imagine being a US club and tweeting this… awful’.

A more light-hearted reply joked that Bale ‘had got an MLS team rooting against the USA!!’.

On top of winning the MLS Cup, Bale played 13 times for LAFC and scored three goals.

He’ll be back in World Cup action on Friday as Wales play Iran in its next Group B game.

USA, meanwhile, faces England. And it’s unlikely Chelsea will tweet quite so happily if Christian Pulisic scores a big goal against Gareth Southgate’s team.
