  • Bastian Schweinsteiger and Ana Ivanovic have been married for nine years
  • The sporting power couple’s marriage is now reportedly on the rocks

A sporting power couple have reached a crisis point in their marriage, according to reports.

German World Cup winner and former Bayern Munich and Manchester United star Bastian Schweinsteiger, 40, and ex-tennis ace Ana Ivanovic, 37, tied the knot in 2016 and have three sons together.

However, nine years on from their dream wedding in Venice, their marriage is now on the rocks, as reported by Bild.

The German outlet claims Schweinsteiger and Ivanovic’s relationship has become difficult due to them not spending much time together.

Bild notes that the pair are often separated by thousands of miles, with Schweinsteiger travelling a lot while Ivanovic remains with their children in her hometown of Belgrade, Serbia.

The former midfielder is currently in Jakarta, Indonesia, leaving Ivanovic to rely on the support of her parents and brother who also live in Serbia.

Schweinsteiger and Ivanovic have also rarely been seen with one another in public in recent months.

They attended the Laver Cup tennis tournament in Berlin last September, and their last Instagram post together came back in December when they visited a Christmas market in Vienna.

They did post a joint Instagram Story two weeks ago, but it has been confirmed this was a pre-produced promotional video to confirm they have extended their contracts as brand ambassadors with fashion company, BRAX.

With Schweinsteiger and Ivanovic going through a tough time, there have been rumours that they could go their separate ways.

Bild report that they reached out to Schweinsteiger’s management, only to be told the ex-footballer and Ivanovic would not be commenting on private matters.

Schweinsteiger and Ivanovic first met in New York in 2014, with the former then getting down on one knee to propose in a London park just a few months later.

Their wedding took place in July 2016, with Ivanovic, who won the French Open in 2008, then retiring from tennis in December 2016.

Schweinsteiger had moved to United by that point, but his underwhelming Old Trafford stay came to an end in March 2017 when he joined Chicago Fire.

Schweinsteiger announced his retirement from playing in 2019, and has since worked as a pundit on German television.

Ivanovic gave birth to their first son in 2018, and had another baby boy the following year.

The couple announced the arrival of their third son in May 2023. Their first two sons are named Luca and Leon, respectively, while the name of their third son is currently unknown.
